How we know this

Introduced

A member filed the bill. This is where the process starts, and most bills go no further.

Introduced on Sep 24, 2026.
Lead sponsor Greg Casar, matched to a seat in our roster.
12 co-sponsors recorded.

In Committee

A small group of members reviews the bill and can rewrite it, advance it, or simply never take it up. Letting a bill die here is the most common way one ends.

Referred to committee on Sep 24, 2026.

Floor Vote

The full chamber debates and votes. A recorded vote here is a roll call, which is what lets anyone see how their own member voted.

Not recorded. That means we hold nothing showing this step, not that it did not happen.

Passed the legislature

Whether the bill cleared the whole legislature. In most states that means both chambers passing identical text; Nebraska and the DC Council have one chamber, so there it means a single body.

Executive action

The governor or the President signs the bill, vetoes it, or lets it become law without a signature. A legislature can also override a veto and enact the bill anyway.

Not recorded. That means we hold nothing showing this step, not that it did not happen.

Stages, sponsors and executive actions are read from the legislature's own published record via LegiScan. We report what it says and never infer an action from a date alone.
